Are These 11 Ingredients the Secret to KFC's Success?

The way in which the KFC company has protected their world famous chicken recipe over the years has been strong. There’s a rumour the company keep a written recipe in a secure vault at their headquarters, just in case. The special seasoning for their chicken is made in two different factories – store owners receive two bags of mix and have to combine bag A with bag B and mix to make the final recipe for the fry.

On top of this, numerous employees are asked to sign NDAs, promising they will never reveal the recipe and it’s also protected under The Trade Secrets Act, which allows the company to sue anyone they believe is using their recipe.

Journalist Jay Jones says he was meeting with Ledington to dicuss his uncle’s work when out of the blue he handed him a collection of notes and old pictures with one page containing a list of 11 ingredients.

Jones says that Ledington also told him that they were in fact the original measurements for the famous chicken recipe – 11 herbs that could bring that famous Kentucky crunch into your own kitchen at home.

Apparently KFC are having none of it, they deny that it’s the actual recipe, but with the family connection and the fact that Ledington says he actually remembers mixing those spices and herbs as a boy, it certainly seems like it might be.

There’s only one way to find out.
