Grilled asparagus is delicious. Its smokiness and delicate char make it irresistible, even if you are not the veggie type. However, there is one dilema: how to cook asparagus on the grill without having the spears fall through the grates?

How To Cook Asparagus on The Grill Using Foil

This method is easy and cheap. After coating the veggies in oil and seasonings of your choice you'll want to pack the asparagus in a sheet of foil.

To do this: cut a large piece of foil, place the asparagus in the center, fold the foil so it covers the asparagus then fold the edges to 'wrap' the package. Place the asparagus packet on the grill over medium heat and cook until tender (about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the spears).

Con: The asparagus will steam rather than roast so you won't enjoy the char of the grill.

Using a grill basket is the best way to cook asparagus on the grill. Not only will it prevent the spears from falling through the grates but you'll be able to enjoy the smokiness the fire imparts on the vegetables.

There are many different type of grill baskets on the market but look for one large handles. The best part? You can use the grill basket to cook a multitude of vegetables like sliced peppers, zucchini and mushrooms.

As with all grilled veggies, you'll want to preheat the grill. Coat the asparagus in oil and season well with salt and pepper or your favorite spices. Then pop those babies on the grill and let the fire work its magic. You'll want to flip them over once so they can cook on the other side.
