What is in the Liquid Platinum Margarita?

The shimmering, swirling cocktail you see below is called the Liquid Platinum Margarita, created at New York's Delilah bar by bartender Rael Petit, where it's currently available until the end of April 2017.

But just what gives this $100 cocktail its unique appearance? Well the ingredients are Gran Patrón Platinum tequila (at $200 a bottle), vermouth, agave, rosewater, lime, xantham gum and silver powder. The mixture is then left in the fridge for 24 hours, which creates the swirling effect according to RT.

There's a very imprtant step in this process though: the Liquid Platinum Margarita must be stirred quickly when the xantham gum is added to stop the mixture turning into a solid lump.

$100 is a lot to spend on a cocktail, but back in 2013, a bar in Australia created a cocktail dedicated to Winston Churchill containing two shots of vintage cognac, costing close to AUS$13,000. And the man who bought it didn't even finish it!
