This Website Shows You Exactly How Not to Plate Dishes

Plating is an art form, as these videos demonstrate, but some restaurants just don’t get it, do they?

We Want Plates started life as a Twitter campaign a couple of years ago, a crusade “against serving food on bits of wood and roof slates, chips in mugs and drinks in jam jars.” It now has over 120,000 followers and a website.

People can submit any offending examples they find to curator Ross McGinnes and if they’re stupid enough, there’s a good chance he’ll feature them.

Check out a selection of crazy plating ideas below: some are just a little misguided and overly pretentious, while others just don’t make any sense and break the cardinal rule of plating, namely if it makes the dish more difficult to eat, don’t do it.

Our personal favourite, if you can call it that, is the breakfast served in a dog bowl – no-one, repeat no-one wants to eat a meal out of a dog bowl.
