Double Arm Transplant Veteran Now Wants to Become a Chef

An ex Marine who has just undergone a double arm transplant says he now wants to pursue a career as a chef.

John Peck became a quadruple amputee back in 2010 when he stepped on an explosive device while working in Afghanistan.

After an amazing medical procedure at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, the 31-year-old woke with two new arms. He must now undergo many hours of intense physiotherapy to learn how to use his arms.

Doctors say it’s difficult to predict how much function Peck will have in his new arms but the veteran is determined to follow his lifelong dream of being a chef.

Speaking to reporters after the procedure, Peck said, “My dream job since I was 12 is to become a chef.” He said he also hopes to travel to Italy and Paris to study culinary arts before returning to the U.S. to claim the winning prize on "Next Food Network Star”.

He also said he’d like to open his own restaurant one day.
