El Celler de Can Roca, the highly influential three Michelin starred Catalan restaurant in Spain whose reputation spans nearly three decades, under the band of brothers, Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca will re-issue their original massive restaurant cookbook in a lighter weight format in English.
The Roca's first edition heavyweight cookbook, first released in 2013, was what the culinary world had waited for, an investment of over 25 years of their cumulative lives in an outstanding restaurant captured in impressive 500 pages. Weighing in at a whopping 3 kilos with a suitably hefty price tag of 90 euros it was a small price to pay for insight into the minds behind one of the world's best restaurants, agreed.
Fast forward to 2016 and the restaurant is still listed #2 in The World's 50 Best Restaurants. For those still keen to dip their toe into the timeless secrets of one of the world's greatest restaurants this is a great chance to snap up the new smaller, more portable redux edition in English, which comes just in time for Christmas, issued on 28 October (Europe) and 23 December on Amazon, and at a more modest 35 euros or $45.
Fans will not be disappointed as the content remains the same, capturing the definitive work of the restaurant with full colour illustrations in chapters devoted to the brothers inspiration from 'poetry' to 'sense of humour'. The creative processes and techniques of the trio of extraordinary siblings and team are reflected in 90 detailed recipes making it a must have addition to any ambitious cook's collection, even if it is just to admire the rich collection of photos of finished dishes.
