Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best LA Restaurants

Jonathan Gold, the Los Angeles Times’ esteemed Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic has just named his 101 best restaurants in Los Angeles for 2016.

Topping the list for the fourth year in a row is acclaimed seafood eatery Providence in Hollywood, also second place in The Daily Meal’s 101 Best Restaurants in America. Gold says: “Providence embodies what a restaurant should aspire to be.”

Second is Shibumi, a kappo-style Japanese restaurant downtown, while other newbies to the annual list of the best restaurants in Los Angeles include Baroo (23), a fermentation-heavy Korean-American on the fringes of Hollywood, Otium (27) and Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson’s LocoL in Watts (58).

Gold also makes special mention of the emerging food scene in Chinatown.

You’ll have to subscribe to the LA Times to see the full list, but the above mentioned restaurants would be a good start to any SoCal trip.
