How To Make Apple Cider in A Slow Cooker

Slow cooker apple cider is a simple idea that yields incredible results. Sure, you could just buy apple cider but making your own will not only save you some cash but also perfume your home with an irresistible aroma.

So how does one go about making slow cooker apple cider? You'll need apples (a mix of Gala or Fuji apples works well), an orange and your favorite fall spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

Slow Cooker Apple Cider Recipe
for 6 qt. slow cooker

9 apples, quartered and cored
1 large orange, quartered
1 inch piece of ginger, sliced thinly
2 cardamom pods
2 cinnamon sticks
8 cloves
1 whole nutmeg
1/2 to 1/3 cup agave syrup
water (enough to cover pot)

Place the apples in the slow cooker and top with the rest of the ingredients. Cover with water. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.

Once the apples are tender mash them with a potato masher. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl and return to the slow cooker

Add two cinnamon sticks and keep warm. To serve, ladle apple cider into a mug and garnish with cinnamon sticks, apple slices or orange slices.
