Brae, one of Australia's most exciting dining venues, located in a tiny town in Victoria, has topped a list of the 100 best restaurants in the country at the Australian Financial Review's Australia's Top Restaurants awards.
The list, voted for by chefs and restaurateurs, was revealed at a ceremony in Sydney. Brae, which is also currently at number 44 on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, sits on a 30-acre plot of land in Birregurra, two hours drive from Melbourne – land that is largely given over to the restaurant's garden.Take a look at some of the dishes here.
In second place was Ben Shewry'sAttica in Melbourne, while Sydney's Ester came third. You can see the full list here.
Brae's Australian chef-owner Dan Hunter, who also picked up the award for best chef, recently told us how he fell into cooking quite by accident whilst travelling England.
Hunter also recently released a cookbook of modern Australian recipes that is well worth checking out.
