Chef Hélène Darroze's San Sebastian Summer Pop Up

Diners that didn't manage to secure a table at Hélène Darroze's pop up restaurant in San Sebastian last year are back in with a chance this summer. The two Michelin star French chef will return to the culinary capital with an exciting new menu to boot.

The French chef, originally from Landes, will return to her childhood roots in the Spanish Basque country From 1 July to 15 October taking charge of the kitchen at one of the region's largest hotels; Palace Maria Cristina.

Following the success of her inaugural experience last year, Darroze looks set to embrace the seasonal challenge anew taking leave of her eponymous Paris restaurant and two London establishments:

“San Sebastian is one of my very favourite cities, with its vibrant food scene, and its access to products from both land and sea,” explained Hélène. “My family and I have always spent several months each year in both San Sebastian and Biarritz, and my restaurant menus are always informed by these food memories.”

The menu promises to be a fitting representation of a fourth generation of a family of cooks familiar with Basque ingredients with Chef Hélène Darroze set to maintain the tradition whilst adding some contemporary touches.

The menu will include dishes like roasted Carabineros with bright red tuna, carrot mousseline with candied citrus fruits and a reduction of Timut pepper with fresh coriander, or Txuleta of Galicia beef. Depending on menu choice, prices will vary between 98 and 180 euros.

Reservations can be made through Palace Maria Cristina's Wesbite.
