How To Cook Corn on the Grill

Summertime is synonymous with grilling. When it comes to veggies one of the top picks for grilling is corn. So how do you cook corn on the grill? Well, it depends on whether you like your corn husked before or after grilling.

Here we present two ways to cook corn on the grill so it tastes like perfection every time.

Also, for those times when you want to kick things up a notch you can try making elote, a Mexican-style grilled corn loaded with spice, cream and flavor (pictured below).

How To Cook Corn on the Grill With the Husk On

Leaving the husk on the corn allows the vegetable to steam while cooking. It also provides a nifty handle for eating.

1. Preheat the grill.

2. Place the corn husks on the hot part of the grill and cook for one minute on each side, until you see grill marks form.

3. Move the corn to the side of the grill with medium heat and cook, moving occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until tender when pierced with a knife or fork. The exterior should be browned but the corn will not be charred on the inside.

4. Remove from the grill, allow to cool slightly before removing the husk. Slather on some butter, your preferred seasonings, and enjoy.

How To Cook Corn on the Grill Without The Husk

1. Shuck the ears of corn.

2. Place on the grill over medium-high heat.

3. Cook for about 10 minutes until browned and tender.

4. Remove from the grill, slather with butter, salt or your favorite spices. Enjoy!

Don't Forget The Butter!

The best way to maximize the flavor of grilled corn is to coat it in a compund butter, sometimes called flavored butter. Simply blend softened butter with chopped herbs, spices or aromatics like garlic or shallots, wrap it up into a log and refrigerate until hardened. Then use a pat to slather over your freshly grilled corn.
