The international winners of the 50 Top Pizza Awards have been announced in the first online guide to pizzerias in Italy and abroad - the new list sponsored by Formamentis by Luciano Pignataro and two names behind LSDM, Barbara Guerra and Albert Sapere, and sponsored by Acqua Panna and S.Pellegrino.
By now, pizza has a "World Heritage", as Guerra and Sapere explain, and hence this global noteriety means it would have been impossible to miss a special section dedicated exclusively to international pizzerias, where 100 experts have selected the best pizzerias in seven different styles across 5 continents.
The winners of each category were announced in Ribalta di Rosario Procino New York:
Best Pizzeria New York Style: Di Fara Pizza, Brooklyn, NY
Best Pizzeria Chicago Style: The Art of Pizza, Chicago
Best Pizzeria in Oceania: Rosso Pomodoro, Sydney (Australia)
Migliore Pizzeria in Asia: Fire and Ice Pizzeria, Calcutta (India)
Best Pizzeria in Nord Europa: Baest, Copenhagen (Denmark)
Best Pizzeria in Giappone: I Love Pizza, Osaka
Best Pizzeria in South America: Bràz Pizzeria, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
The jury also wanted to award a special prize for "innovation and sustainability" which went to Matthew Kenney'sVegan Pizzeria 00 + Coin New York.
Meanwhile, the countdown is on until 20 July, when the top 50 best pizzerias in Italy will be announced at Castel dell'Ovo in Naples during an award ceremony which will also be live streamed.
