How much do you love bacon? Seriously, how much? Enough to spend five days at a bacon camp?
Camp Bacon is an event organised by online food retailer Zingerman's every spring in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It's an opportunity for bacon lovers to meet and chew the fat (ahem), learn and well, eat plenty of the stuff.
Described as "A thinking person's celebration of bacon," the event schedule includes cooking classes, film screenings, a 'bacon ball' and a food tour of nearby Detroit. There are plenty of talks too, where you can learn more about the history and provenance of this wonderful foodstuff. Foodies and chefs alike should find plenty to get the juices flowing.
The event runs from 31 May to 4 June and tickets are available here. Proceeds go to two non-profits: the Southern Foodways Alliance, which celebrates Southern food traditions, and the 4H Club of Washtenhaw County, which supports community-based agriculture.
