Latin American Cuisine Celebrated on US Postal Stamps

We've already seen pinot noir grape stamps and famous chef stamps, but next up the U.S Postal Service have released Delicioso Forever® stamps featuring Latin America cuisine celebrating the influence of Central and South American, Mexican, and Caribbean foods and flavors on American cuisine.

Six dishes are featured on the individual stamps, including, tamales, flan, sanocho, empanadas, chile relleno and ceviche, reflecting an array of Latin American culinary traditions that have attracted huge popularity in the US.

"Salsa overtook ketchup as a top condiment years ago, tortilla chips typically outsell potato chips, and tacos and burritos have become American staples" said Parra, the award winning illustrator drafted in for the occasion. "It doesn't matter what your background is. Everybody loves the food," Parra said, before sitting down at one of Albuquerque's popular New Mexican restaurants for a green-chile infused lunch.

"It's such a universal food for everybody now," he said. "And it's a great way to connect with people. Food is such a universal language."
