The Michelin Guide to Brazil 2017 has been unveiled revealing the pick of restaurants in Brazil's two biggest cities, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo.
Whilst there are no new three star entries to report in the third year of the publication, Alex Atala’s D.O.M. has retained the number one spot with two Michelin stars, which it was first awarded in the inaugural Michelin Guide to Brazil 2015.
Three restaurants have received one star for the first time, namely Laguiole and Oro in Rio de Janeiro and Picchi in São Paulo. This takes the total of starred restaurants across the two cities to 19, the same as last year, with the scales tipping in favour of Sao Paolo, boasting the majority at 13.
Three restaurants have left this year's list including Roberta Sudbrack, which is now closed, as well as Le Pré Catelan and Attimo.
Bib Gourmand restaurants, representing "good quality" and "good value cooking," total 33 across the two cities.
