The MIA Photo Fair, one of the most important international art fairs dedicated to photography and the moving image took place in March in Milan. Seventy-eight Italian and international galleries presented their offerings within this year's event, now in its seventh edition: 25,000 people, including professionals and amateurs, have had the opportunity to discover the many works on display, which included a wide selection of food photography.

"The 2017 edition has seen very positive results and has confirmed the underlying orientation of MIA Photo Fair – that is, to reconcile the deeping of the cultural aspect, the different languages of photography and market needs, which is open to a wider audience that is attracted by the quality of the works and their suitably fair price," said Fabio Castelli, creator and director of the MIA Photo Fair.

Focus also saw a strong foreign presence (new in 2017) in three geographical areas: the Principality of Asturias (Spain), curated by Monica AlvarezCareaga, Brazil, curated by Denise Gadelha, and Hungary, curated by Art Photo Budapest.

Many awards were handed out, including the MIA Code, which was conceived and curated by Enrica Viganò with the intention of promoting mid-career photographers. Now in its fifth edition, this year's award went to Davide Monteleone, Italian photographer of international fame.

With projects or individual images, there were also many food-inspired photographs on display, such as the X-ray images of Thierry Radelet, the still life paintings of Michele Ranzani, studies in black and white that Mario Cucchi made on several items and the famous camouflages of Liu Bolin.

Here we offer a selection of works that we have chosen for you. In impatiently awaiting the 2018 edition, enjoy the photo gallery at the top of the page!
